Kevin Aitken re-elected to Lillooet council in Saturday by-election
LILLOOET — Voters in the District of Lillooet have elected Kevin Atiken as their newest municipal councillor after a by-election Saturday (May 10).
Preliminary results show Aitken got 221 votes to beat both of his challengers – Jonah Timms and former mayor Marg Lampman, who got 138 and 69 votes respectively.
“The people have spoken. Thank you to all that got out and voted,” Aitken said in a statement on Facebook. “Time to put the councilor hat back on. It is an honour to serve our community.”
This will be Aitken’s second term in office, after he was first elected to Lillooet council in 2014, though he did not seek re-election four years later. Saturday’s by-election was held to fill a vacancy after councillor Rolf de Bruin resigned on Jan. 10.
