Victim identified as RCMP renew plea for information into 2024 shooting at Sicamous hotel
SICAMOUS, B.C. — Police have revealed the identity of a man who was shot to death in Sicamous over a year ago, in the hopes of furthering the investigation.
According to police, the body of Matthew Monteith, 38, was found in the parking lot of the Best Western hotel on Feb. 24, 2024. In a statement Friday (May 9), they said he was killed in a targeted shooting, which is being investigated by the Southeast District Major Crime Unit.
Officers say they executed a search warrant at a house in the Auburn Bay area of Calgary on May 8, in connection with Monteith’s murder. Police did not reveal the outcome of that search in Friday’s statement.
“We’re asking for anyone with information related to the circumstances of Matthew Monteith’s death to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart said.
