New TRU President

New TRU president, Dr. Airini, to be formally installed on June 25

KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University (TRU) will formally install Dr. Airini as its fifth president and vice-chancellor on Wednesday, June 25.

The public ceremony — which will also be livestreamed — will take place between 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the BC Centre (HL 190) on the TRU Kamloops campus. It will be followed by a public reception.

“Installation ceremonies are steeped in tradition,” acting TRU Board Chair David Hallinan said in a statement.

“They represent more than formality. They mark the start of a relationship between the president and the university community. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Airini into this important role.”

A former Dean of the TRU Faculty of Education and Social Work, Dr. Airini will officially take over from the retiring Brett Fairbairn on July 1. She returns to TRU from the University of Saskatchewan, where she served as provost and vice-president Academic.
