CALGARY — When the expansion Penticton Vees visit the Kamloops Blazers during the 2025-26 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, their roster will include a couple of familiar faces.

The WHL expansion draft was held Wednesday (May 7). The Vees chose players from 13 WHL teams, while the league accepted seven trade proposals with other teams.

Penticton selected 2006-born defenceman Kalan Anderlini from the Blazers. Anderlini, from Langley, has tallied two goals and nine assists for 11 points in his 102-game WHL career, spent entirely with Kamloops.

The Vees also engineered a trade with Everett Silvertips to acquire 2006-born goaltender Jesse Sanche. Sanche began his career with the Blazers, serving as Dylan Ernst’s primary backup in 2023-24. Last season, Sanche played 35 games for the league-leading Silvertips.
