Land defenders sentenced for violent 2021 clash with Trans Mountain near Blue River
KAMLOOPS — A group of Secwepemc land defenders has been sentenced for their part in a violent confrontation with Trans Mountain employees in 2021.
The sentence was handed down in B.C. provincial court at the Kamloops courthouse Friday (May 2).
Mayuk Manuel, Isha Jules, Sami Nasr and Tricia Charlie were all charged in the September 15, 2021 clash that took place at the Trans Mountain worksite on Murtle Road in the Blue River area.
At the time charges were approved, RCMP said the members of the Tiny House Warriors “breached a fence and began throwing rocks at the workers and their equipment.”
