KAMLOOPS — The results are officially in, and it looks like both Kamloops-area ridings had a voter turnout higher than the national average during the 2025 federal election.

Data from Elections Canada shows 62,422 votes were cast in Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola and 68,376 votes were cast in Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies.

In Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola, the voter turnout was 69.9 per cent, while in Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies it was 74.1 per cent. The national voter turnout for Monday’s (April 28) election was 68.7 per cent, with 99.93 per cent of polls reporting.

The Kamloops results, which were validated on May 1, also show that both ridings had 320 ballots that were rejected.

Kamloops-area voters sent two Conservative MPs – Frank Caputo and Mel Arnold – to Ottawa. Caputo, who was MP in Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo, will be going into his second term, while Arnold, the former North Okanagan-Shuswap MP, will be going into his fourth.

In 2021, the voter turnout in Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo was 66.5 per cent, while in North Okanagan-Shuswap it was 65.2 per cent. The national voter turnout in 2021 was 62.6 per cent
