VANCOUVER — United Way BC has introduced a way for residents across the province to support those affected by last Saturday’s (April 26) tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver.

Eleven people were killed when an SUV rammed into a crowd of people at the event celebrating Filipino heritage and culture. Dozens more were injured.

The agency has launched the Kapwa Strong Fund which will gather donations for the city’s Filipino community.

United Way BC President Michael McKnight says 100 per cent of the funds collected will go toward mental health supports and trauma counselling, as well as access to essential goods and services.
