KAMLOOPS — Interior Health says it now easier for people to access the new emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

In a post on social media, the health authority says renovations to the walkway from the public parking area to the emergency room are now finished, and that the changes took effect Wednesday (April 30).

“Whether accessing the emergency department from the public parkade in the Clinical Services Building or the main entrance from the Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower, a more direct route is now open via Level 2 to the RIH main building,” the post said.

“You no longer need to access the emergency department via Level 1. Signs are available to help you find your way.”

A new emergency room entrance opened in October last year, as Interior Health works on a series of renovations at Royal Inland Hospital. Interior Health expects to be done with all modernization work at the Kamloops ER by the fall of 2026.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding while the temporary access route to the emergency department was in place, the April 30 post said. “We appreciate your support as we work towards a modernized Royal Inland Hospital campus.”
