PAUL LAKE, B.C. — RCMP are investigating the Kamloops area’s first homicide of 2025.

In a news release issued Tuesday (April 29), Staff Sgt. Jason Smart of the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit (SED MCU) says the body of Kamloops resident Dylan Thomas Godfrey was found Friday in the Paul Lake area.

Smart says officers investigating a stolen vehicle Friday arrested three men outside of Kamloops for possession of stolen property and breach of court orders. As their investigation unfolded, officers found Godfrey’s body.

“Investigators believe that Dylan Thomas Godfrey’s death was an isolated event and that no threat to the public exists,” said Smart.

The RCMP identified and secured a North Shore home in relation to the arrests of the three men as they await approval of a search warrant.

Police are appealing to the public for help in the investigation.

Anyone with dashcam or surveillance video from Paul Lake Road, the Halston Connector or the Kamloops North Shore between last Wednesday (April 23) at 6:00 a.m. and Friday at 7:00 a.m. is asked to contact the SED MCU tipline at 1 (877) 987-8477. As well, investigators would like to speak to anyone who has had any contact with the victim since April 14.
