KAMLOOPS — A tough weekend of League1 BC games for Kamloops United FC (KUFC) as they hosted Altitude FC from North Vancouver Saturday (April 26) afternoon.

The KUFC women conceded four goals in the first 30 minutes en route to a 5-1 loss at McArthur Island. Jayda Thompson and Vanessa Tome scored a pair each, while Holly Whelan added a fifth in the 87th minute.

Kamloops native Emily Clark scored a consolation goal for KUFC in stoppage time.

The women’s team remains without a win through three games this season alongside Nanaimo United.

Over in men’s action, Kamloops United and Altitude played to a 0-0 draw.

“That was a really good fight between both teams,” men’s head coach John Antulov said. “Not a lot of opportunities on both sides. It was a tough field to play on for both teams but overall the guys proved a lot of resilience and fight to the end.”

“It wasn’t an easy game but you have to get results in games like this and we were able to do that.”

The KUFC men have two wins and a draw giving them seven points after three games this season. They’re in second place behind reigning champions TSS Rovers, who have seven points from four games.

Next up for Kamloops United is their first away game of the season in Nanaimo against Nanaimo United on Sunday, May 4. The women will play at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men at 1:30 p.m.

Their next home game is scheduled for May 17 at McArthur Island against Burnaby FC.
