ALLENTOWN, PA — Another milestone for Kamloops Blazers defenceman Harrison Brunicke, who scored his first goal in professional hockey Friday (April 25) night.

The 18-year-old Brunicke found the back of the net for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in a 3-2 defeat to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in a Calder Cup playoff game.

Brunicke fired a shot above Parker Gahagen’s left shoulder to make it 2-1 on the night, in what was a must-win game for the Penguins in their Atlantic Division first round playoff series.

It wasn’t to be for the Penguins though, as the Phantoms came back for the win, and swept the best-of-three series to advance in the Calder Cup playoffs.

Brunicke, who impressed at Pittsburgh Penguins training camp last fall, ended his first taste of professional hockey with a goal and four points in 12 games across the AHL regular season and playoffs.

While he also impressed after he made the jump to the AHL, Brunicke is expected back in Kamloops this fall for his 19-year-old WHL season.

Elsewhere, Blazers captain Emmitt Finnie and his Grand Rapids Griffins are gearing up for a best-of-five Central Division semi final series against the Texas Stars. Former Blazers forward Matthew Seminoff is part of the Stars team.
