BC Wildfire Service holding training exercises near Merritt Saturday
MERRITT — The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting training exercises in the Coutlee Plateau area west of Merritt Saturday (April 26) as part of the annual new recruit boot camp that is underway.
It says it will be using small burn piles to simulate wildfire response during this training exercise.
“These exercises provide participants with valuable experience learning to respond to live fire in a training environment,” the BC Wildfire Service said in a statement.
“Experienced staff and instructors will be involved extensively throughout the exercise, with fire suppression tools and additional equipment on site to ensure a safe and effective exercise.”
