Major delays expected on Yellowhead Highway in Kamloops due to car show, Boogie Expo

KAMLOOPS — If you’re stuck in traffic on the Yellowhead Highway in Kamloops Friday (April 25) afternoon, you can blame a car show at nearby Shuswap Road for it.

That’s according to DriveBC, which says people can expect major delays in both directions as they approach the intersection of Highway 5 and Shuswap Road.

“The event is not on the highway, but is creating major congestion,” a Friday afternoon update from DriveBC said.

The event in question is a Petro-Canada Customer Appreciation Day, which is being held at Tkemlups Petro Canada locations on both sides of the highway, at Chief Louis Crossing and the Powwow Trail, until 5:30 p.m. this evening.

Also adding to traffic woes is the annual Boogie Expo, which is taking place at Moccasin Square Gardens until 7:00 p.m. this evening. The event is where participants in Sunday’s CFJC TV Boogie The Bridge can pick up their race packs or register for the event. The Boogie Expo is also set to run between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

DriveBC expects to have another update on the traffic woes at 7:00 p.m. this evening. You can find the latest here.
