COLLINS: People keep getting sucked in by lies
IT ALWAYS AMAZES ME how easily we get sucked in by promises that never materialize.
Many of us see some bauble on a social media site. It doesn’t cost too much so out comes the credit card. We never see the gift or our money — and if we do see it eventually, it turns out to be a piece of junk. If history hasn’t taught us about falling for these scams, surely a look at election promises made over the years should seal the deal.
Over the last year, Donald Trump has lied and cheated his way into power. He makes hourly promises to continue to hold on to power. A handful of provinces — including our own — have held elections. Our premier is still trying to deal with paying for promises he made when he took over from John Horgan.
With our federal election close at hand, the number of things being promised can never be fulfilled. Ever. Don’t be fooled.
