KAMLOOPS — Another year, another half ton of material removed from Kamloops beaches.

The City of Kamloops says 165 residents removed 1,014 lbs of material on the second annual Clean the Beach Day on Sunday (April 13). Broken down, the city says 684 lbs of garbage and 330 lbs of metal were collected from the beaches at Overlander Park, Pioneer Park and Riverside Park.

In a news release issued Tuesday, the city says representatives from the Kamloops Naturalist Club, Transition Kamloops and the Invasive Species Society also shared tips on keeping the local environment healthy.

Nearly 130 residents bagged and removed 1,300 lbs of garbage from Kamloops beaches during the inaugural event in 2024.
