Drug deal, reported assault leads to heavy police presence along Columbia

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP were seen in force on Monday evening (April 14) at the Hospitality Inn along Columbia Street West after a man was treated for stab wounds at the hospital.

Police attended the hospital in response to the reported stabbing, discovering a victim who had allegedly been assaulted with a weapon on the 500-block of Columbia Street West, said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP detachment spokesperson.

“According to the report, the victim had attended a motel room to purchase drugs, and once inside, was assaulted by two men.”

Officers, along with the dog unit attended the motel, but nobody was found inside. Police remained on scene while a search warrant was carried out.

The victim’s injuries were reported as non-life threatening.

The suspects are described as follows:

  • shorter male wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, dark glasses, black ski mask and ball hat
  • taller male wearing all black with some yellow, and yellow on his hat
