Slope stability-related Highway 1 closure at Sicamous could last through the weekend: province

SICAMOUS, B.C. — The province’s Ministry of Transportation says the Trans Canada Highway will remain closed at Sicamous Friday (April 11) and maybe throughout the weekend.
The closure near the Bruhn Bridge began on Thursday when engineers studied a section of bluff above the highway. Some rock had fallen toward the road below and the engineers determined more could come down.
While local residents will be escorted onto Old Spallumcheen Road and Old Sicamous Road at the top of the hour, those travelling through will be forced to find their own detours.
The ministry advises them to choose Highways 97A and 97B to get around the closure.
