SD73 presenting preliminary budget to public Wednesday evening
KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops-Thompson School District, and the board of education will be presenting the preliminary budget for the 2025/2026 school year to the public this evening (Apr. 9), ahead of the final approval of the spending plan.
The preliminary budget comes after four months of consultation meetings, and board chair Heather Grieve says Wednesday’s presentation is meant to inform staff, parents, and caregivers, and any other interested community members about how education dollars could be spent for the next year.
“I think we’ve been very open through a very lengthy consultation period around some of the challenges that we’re facing. Our district is not alone in terms of facing these challenges. Provincially, I think we’re going to be hearing in the coming weeks about a number of districts who are really experiencing some significant challenges with the way funding models are right now.”
