SICAMOUS, B.C. — Two people were arrested after an apparent targeted shooting in Sicamous.

RCMP say officers responded to a report of shots fired near a condominium building on the 300-block of Mara Lane at around 4:00 p.m. Sunday (April 6).

In a news release issued Monday (April 7), RCMP say they spoke with witnesses who described suspects leaving in a white SUV prior to police arriving. Police determined the intended target of the shooting was a Sicamous man who is known to police, but he had fled the scene in another vehicle.

Police say they found the man unharmed, although his truck was found to have multiple bullet holes. The truck was seized as part of the investigation.

Salmon Arm RCMP attempted a traffic stop with a westbound white SUV approaching Canoe that didn’t stop. The SUV was eventually found abandoned near the Trans Canada Highway in Canoe.

Sicamous RCMP say both suspects, who are known to the RCMP in Alberta, remain in custody after they were arrested in Canoe thanks to help of police dogs.

“A shooting in a residential area during mid-day is alarming; however, this was an isolated targeted incident with both suspects in police custody,” Sgt. Murray MacNeil, Sicamous RCMP detachment commander, says.

RCMP say they’re continuing to investigate the reported targeted shooting. The release did not state if charges have been laid.
