Blazers’ captain Emmitt Finnie nominated for WHL Most Sportsmanlike Player Award

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Blazers captain Emmitt Finnie has been named a finalist for the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy, which is presented to the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.

The 19-year-old Finnie led the Blazers in goals (37), assists (47), and points (84), and finished with just 26 penalty minutes in 55 games. He passed the 30-goal mark for the first time in the WHL, and finished 16th in the WHL in points but seventh in points-per-game.

A prospect of the Detroit Red Wings, Finnie has tallied 65 goals and 184 points in 229 games with the Blazers. He also had four goals and seven points in 15 WHL playoff games.
