Kamloops Mountie injured arresting North Shore break-in suspect Tuesday
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say one of their officers was injured apprehending a North Shore break-in suspect early Tuesday morning (April 1).
In a news release, detachment spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the 200-block of Clapperton Road at about 1:55 a.m. Tuesday for a man trying to break into a building.
When officers found a suspect nearby, they told him he was under arrest.
“The suspect allegedly ran from police toward Leigh Road, where another officer located him and attempted to take him into custody,” said Evelyn. “A foot pursuit followed in which the suspect began yelling for help, actively resisted arrest and in the process, inflicted several non-life-threatening injuries on the officer.”
