KAMLOOPS — The New Democratic Party of Canada announced Miguel Godau as its candidate for the Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola riding. A youth mental health therapist, Godau has lived throughout this riding but currently resides in Castlegar.

“The hard things that people sometimes encounter in rural communities, and then the struggle with having services in rural communities and sometimes also feeling like you have a voice in rural communities. And so I think of the words of my Opa, Nana were very instrumental in my life,” Godau told CFJC Today.

Godau has seen the effects of the United States on many Canadians, but plans to tackle more local crises as well.

“Our neighbour down south in the White House is distracting people by putting a lot of fears out with tariffs and creating a lot of uncertainty. I think that is an all-encompassing issue. I think all of the problems that have always existed in terms of affordability for housing,” said Godau.

In the Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola riding, he joins Incumbent Conservative Frank Caputo, Liberal Iain Currie and People’s Party of Canada Chris Enns.
