CALGARY — Kamloops native Johnny Hicks has been named WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week for the week ending March 30.

The 19-year-old Hicks finished with a 2-0 record, a 1.00 goals-against average, a .962 save percentage, and a shutout as the Victoria Royals took both games against the Tri-City Americans in the opening weekend of WHL playoffs.

Hicks stopped all 22 shots he faced in a 3-0 win against the Americans on Friday (March 28) night. He was named first star as the Royals won their first home playoff game since 2019.

Saturday night, Hicks turned aside 29 of 31 shots as Victoria came away with a 6-2 win. While both of Tri-City’s goals were scored on the power play, the Americans never led in that game.
