City of Kamloops releases details about 2025 tree coupon program
KAMLOOPS — The city of Kamloops has released details about its annual tree coupon program, which will get underway on Tuesday (April 1).
It says a total of 1,000 coupons will be available to Kamloops residents on a first-come, first-served basis until June 11, with a limit of one per household. The coupons will have a $20 or $50 value, depending on the price of the tree.
The City runs the program each year as it works to increase the community’s tree canopy from the current 15 per cent to 20 per cent, as identified in the Urban Forestry Management Strategy.
“Urban trees provide many social, health, environmental, and economic benefits, from removing atmospheric carbon dioxide and absorbing air pollutants to reducing energy consumption and increasing property values,” Brian Purves, the City’s Crew Leader – Arboriculture, said in a news release.
