Castlegar resident with regional ties to represent NDP in Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola
KAMLOOPS — The federal New Democratic Party (NDP) unveiled its candidate in Kamloops-Thompson-Nicola for the 2025 federal election.
Castlegar resident Miguel Godau will carry the orange banner in one of the two Kamloops ridings.
In a news release issued Monday (March 31) morning, the NDP say Godau is a leader in child and youth mental health. The party says Godau was raised in Ashcroft, has lived in Logan Lake and has strong ties to the Kamloops-Nicola region. The NDP also says he has served on boards in arts, recreation and sports, and is a union activist with the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU).
“The stake in this election is: Liberal and Conservative are in it for the powerful and very wealthy, and only the NDP is in it for working people and families,” Godau states. “New Democrats will stand up to billionaires, bankers and Trump. We fight for Canadian values – and we’ll never give up fighting for better health care, pensions, affordable housing and more – just as we did to bring in Medicare, the CPP, dental care, free diabetes and contraception, and the fight for human rights of women, labour and Indigenous Peoples.”
