Dangerous driving suspect arrested; multiple drugs seized from motel in Valleyview

KAMLOOPS — A handgun, ammunition and half a kilogram of suspected drugs such as crack cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine were seized after an arrest in Valleyview over the weekend.

Kamloops RCMP say officers responded to a motel on the 2400-block of Trans Canada Highway East just before 7:00 a.m. Sunday (March 23) regarding an investigation into dangerous driving, flight from police and prohibited driving offences.

“While arresting a suspect, officers observed items consistent with drug trafficking inside the motel room, which led to them arresting another individual present and obtaining a search warrant,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP detachment spokesperson, stated in a news release issued Thursday (March 27).

RCMP say the suspect who was arrested for the driving offences was released with a court date and conditions. The second person who was arrested was released without process for the time being.

Meantime, the investigation into the drugs and weapons offences is separate and ongoing, as RCMP say they continue to collect and analyze evidence such as forensic examinations and reports.
