Nicola Valley Hospital emergency department temporarily closes for seventh time in March

MERRITT, B.C. — For the 11th time in 2025, the emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt temporarily closed.
In a news release issued at around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday (March 25), Interior Health stated that emergency services in Merritt would be unavailable until 7:00 a.m. Wednesday (March 26). A reason for the temporary closure was not provided.
Residents in Merritt and area in need of life-threatening emergency care are asked to call 9-1-1 or visit Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Interior Health says all inpatient services will continue at Nicola Valley Hospital in the meantime.
The Nicola Valley Hospital emergency department has temporarily closed seven times in March.
