Kamloops RCMP issue call for help tracking down man wanted on violent charges

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man is wanted for arrest on violent charges and the local RCMP detachment would like help tracking him down.

In a news release issued Wednesday (March 26), spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the wanted man is James Andrew Wessel.

Locally, the 25-year-old is wanted for multiple offences including forcible confinement, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking, and failure to comply with release conditions. Wessel is also wanted on an assault charge out of Burnaby.

“Since receiving the arrest warrant, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers have made efforts to locate James Wessel, but he remains at large,” said Evelyn. “He is not from here originally and may have left the area.”

Anyone who knows where Wessel may be is asked to contact their local police department.
