KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 318 calls for service from Friday, March 21 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24. Below are some incidents police attended.

Mission Impossible: Kamloops

A thief appeared to have broken into a downtown Kamloops business through its roof.

Kamloops RCMP say officers responded to an alarm at a business on the 100-block of Fourth Avenue just before midnight Sunday where they discovered cash had been stolen and a roof hatch was insecure.

Anyone who witnessed the reported robbery or has further information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

Stolen tools found

RCMP responded to a business on Old Highway 5 and Tod Mountain Road in Heffley Creek at around 11:15 a.m. Saturday where employees found people believed to be stealing tools.

Police say officers found one of the two items reported as stolen in the back of the suspects’ U-Haul and another abandoned nearby.

The tools were returned and the suspects were released without process.

Impaired driver crashes into North Shore curb

A Kamloops woman was arrested after speeding through the North Shore and crashing into a curb.

RCMP say an officer patrolling Fortune Drive near Chestnut Avenue saw a white SUV speeding at around 7:50 a.m. Sunday. Police say the officer tried to carry out a traffic stop, but the driver swerved into oncoming traffic, smashed into a curb when re-entering her lane and eventually came to a rest near Holly Avenue.

The woman received a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content exceeding .08, along with violation tickets for excessive speeding, driving contrary to license restriction, and failing to keep right of a single broken/solid line.
