FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Kamloops swimmer Sienna Angove has been named a First Team All-American in her freshman year with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The 18-year-old Angove earned the honour after she placed eighth in the 400 yard individual medley at the 2025 NCAA Division One (DI) women’s swimming and diving championships in Federal Way, Washington, just outside of Seattle.

The Sa-Hali Secondary School graduate finished the race at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center with a time of 4:07.83 Friday (March 21) evening. She earned her spot in finals with a time of 4:04.60 in the prelims.

Angove also finished in 29th place in the preliminary round of the 200 yard individual medley race Thursday with a time of 1:56.63

Angove won gold in the 400 yard individual medley, a bronze in the 200 yard individual medley, and a silver in the 800 yard freestyle relay at the Big Ten women’s swimming and diving championships last month.

Those performances earned her spots on the All-Big Ten First Team and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

The Kamloopsian is aiming to qualify for the 2025 World Aquatic Championships in Singapore and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland. Angove is also hoping to represent Canada at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, after coming close to earning a spot on the Canadian relay teams at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“It’s really been a dream of mine since I was a little kid,” Angove told CFJC Today.

“I used to do gymnastics and swimming and I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to make the Olympics in both gymnastics and swimming.’ Then I grew up and realized that’s not really possible, but I picked swimming and it’s always in the back of my mind.”
