Lillooet navigating fourth 49-hour ER closure of March
LILLOOET — Residents in Lillooet and area are navigating their fourth 49-hour emergency room closure in the last two weeks.
Interior Health says the ER at the Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre will be unavailable from 7 a.m. Saturday (March 22) to 8 a.m. Monday (March 24), with people being told to make the two hour drive to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops if they need emergency care.
The Lillooet ER was previously closed for 49 hours March 10 to 12, from March 16 to 18, and from March 19 to 21. There were also two separate 25 hour ER closures, one in January and one in March.
Add those hours up and it means that the Lillooet area will have been without emergency room coverage for 246 hours this year – assuming the facility opens on Monday morning as scheduled.
