KAMLOOPS — Emergency crews appear to have made quick work of a small brush fire along the riverbank on Tranquille Road Saturday (March 22) afternoon, though details remain limited at this time.

It appears that the fire behind the former Sandbar Grill was sparked by a cigarette butt, though Kamloops Fire Rescue has not confirmed those details to CFJC Today.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Darren Dodge told CFJC that officers were called around 2:36 p.m. Saturday to manage traffic on Tranquille Road, but added that they’ve cleared the scene.

There are no reports of any damage to the building and no reports of any injuries as well.
