WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Smoke may be visible in Williams Lake over the next two weeks.

The BC Wildfire Service says it’s supporting the City of Williams Lake and Williams Lake First Nation with carrying out a 20-hectare prescribed burn northeast of the Westridge Subdivision, between Country Club Boulevard and Westridge Subdivision.

The wildfire service says the main burn may begin as early as Tuesday (March 25) and continue periodically until Friday, April 4. Crews will only proceed if conditions are safe, and the weather is favourable.

In a news release issued Thursday, the wildfire service says smoke and flames will be highly visible from vantage points in the city that look west across Williams Lake toward Westridge Subdivision. It notes that the burn may appear close to the Tolko Industry Lakeview Mill log yard, Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club and the Westridge Subdivision.
