MERRITT, B.C. — A taste of winter is expected to linger on the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt during the first night of spring.

A special weather statement is in effect for the stretch of Highway 5 from Thursday (March 20) night to Friday morning as Environment Canada says a significant amount of snow accumulation could occur.

The weather agency says the snow level from a Pacific frontal system will be sufficiently low to potentially create challenging driving conditions in some of the heavier bands of snow.

A similar special weather statement is in effect for Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
