Rail work to close Highway 1 east of Lytton periodically
LYTTON, B.C. — The Trans Canada Highway through a portion of the Fraser Canyon will close for some stretches over the next week to allow for rail work to be completed.
B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says Highway 1 at Tank Hill, nearly 14 kilometres east of Lytton, will close overnight on Friday (March 21) from midnight to 4:00 a.m.
The stretch of the Trans Canada Highway will then close daily from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday, March 24 to Wednesday, March 26.
In a news release, the Ministry says the reason for the closure is for Canadian Pacific Kansas City to install steel grinders on its rail line as part of a new overpass.
