KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire and Rescue (KFR) says smoke rising from the Juniper Ridge area Monday (March 17) is from a controlled burn that is taking place above Galore Crescent.

There have been a number of controlled burns either announced or completed in the Kamloops this year, as firefighters work to reduce the risk of wildfires during the hot summer months.

The City of Kamloops previously announced plans for two other burns this spring – a 17 hectare burn at Peterson Creek Nature Park and a 10 hectare prescribed burn in a publicly-owned area of the Lac Du Bois Grasslands.
