KAMLOOPS — The TRU WolfPack have announced the signing of twin brothers Francesco and Stephano Rettis-Martinez from Surrey for the 2025-26 Canada West season.

“I saw both of them play in the BC High-Potential Player program and really liked their games,” WolfPack head coach John Antulov said. “They are two guys that – not just for this year – but for the next five years are two quality additions to our program.”

Francesco describes himself as a hardworking, determined and passionate attacking player who thrives in high-pressure situations.

“I am always pushing myself and my teammates to be better, and I take pride in doing little things that make a big difference – whether that is fighting for every ball, or staying disciplined when it matters most,” he said, in a news release.

Stephano is described as a technical defender with plenty of ability on the ball, who can be a force both in attack and defence.

“My brother and I have always been on the same team since we were little and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Stephano said. “We’ve made it a habit to go out and train together and our competitive spirits help push each other even when we feel lazy.”

“When I play, I always somehow manage to find a way to feed my brother, we have a connection like none other. Getting the opportunity to play with my brother at a university in U SPORTS is really a blessing and I can’t wait to show everyone what we can do.”

The two brothers, who attended North Delta Secondary School previously played together for Surrey United in the BCSPL, the highest level of youth club soccer in the province. Their performances also earned them trials with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy.

“Quickness, ability to take on guys one-vs-one, confidence on the ball and being technically sound are all attributes that he possesses,” Antulov said of Francesco. “He’s got the ability to play in multiple positions, whether that’s out wide, as a striker or in the middle of the park. That’s something that is really going to help our group.”

“The thing I really like about [Stefano] is his calmness on the ball and ability to build out of the back,” Antulov added. “He reads the game really well defensively, is a really good one-on-one defender and is someone I can see making a real impact for our program.”

The Rettis-Martinez brothers are the latest to play for the WolfPack joining Alesandro and Domenico Comita as well as Lucas and Jonathan Rinaldi. The new recruits plan on studying marketing while at TRU.
