KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 349 calls for service from Friday March 7 to 9 a.m. on Monday, March 10. Below are some incidents police attended.

Drugs and baton seized near Halston Connector

Nearly 18 grams of suspected fentanyl, morphine pills, an extendable baton and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized after a Tk’emlups Rural RCMP officer patrolled the Halston Connector.

RCMP say the officer was driving by a gas station at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when he recognized a vehicle reported to have previously fled from police.

When the driver was out of the vehicle, RCMP say the officer approached him and found illegal drugs. RCMP add the vehicle was towed from the scene, and one person was arrested and given a driving prohibition.

Youths fighting near downtown cafe

Officers responded to a coffee shop on the 400-block of Lansdowne Street at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday where a confrontation between youths had escalated and one of them became violent.

RCMP say the situation was quickly broken up by others in the coffee shop. The suspect youth exited the shop yelling and swearing and was arrested for assault.

The youth was eventually released to their caregiver, without process, once they had calmed down.

Aberdeen hotel broken into twice

Kamloops RCMP say they were contacted on Sunday regarding two break-ins at a hotel on Rogers Way.

RCMP say one break-in took place on March 3 where a man got into the hotel’s office, but nothing was taken. However, on March 7, police say the office was broken into again and cash and cheques were taken.

Anyone with information that may be related to the break-ins is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
