KAMLOOPS — Mountain biker Catharine Pendrel and Blazers great Greg Hawgood headline this year’s class of Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame inductees.

Also joining the hall in 2025 will be late boxing coach Gary Oakden and the 1980-to-1984 Zenetti Fur Town Merchants soccer team.

Pendrel is an Olympic medallist and four-time Olympian in Cross Country Mountain Bike.

Hawgood was a standout defenceman on the mid-’80s Kamloops Blazers, following up his junior career with an 18-year career in professional hockey, including 474 games in the NHL.

Before his passing, Oakden was known as a mentor to young boxers, helping to grow the sport in Kamloops.

Coached by Mike Bartram, the Zenetti Fur Town Merchants won the Men’s Premier First Division every year from 1980 to 1984.

“The Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame is thrilled to announce our inductees for this year and celebrate the athletes who have made a significant contribution in sports and celebrating their amazing careers,” said Kamloops Sports Council Executive Director Duncan Olthuis in a prepared news release.

The inductees will enter the Hall of Fame at the organization’s 35th Annual Induction Ceremony, set for April 5 at the Colombo Lodge.
