Kamloops chamber encourages residents to also support local businesses who rely on American products
KAMLOOPS — The head of the Kamloops and District Chamber of Commerce while people make an effort to buy Canadian products, a number of local businesses rely on American products.
Executive Director Acacia Pangilinan says they’ve noticed a shift in consumer habits as people push to buy Canadian amid the ongoing threat of tariffs from the United States.
“We’re starting to see that with our business community saying consumers are looking for that,” Pangilinan said, noting she believes there is a great opportunity for Canadian made products. “But I think it’s also important to remember too that our community has a lot of businesses that have American products or American brands. Even though we are trying to avoid that, those are still Kamloops jobs that are putting meals on the table for families.”
Pangilinan says its why she feels its important that people support their community, even if it means buying American products, especially if that’s the only option available to them.
