
Kamloops building sector seeing greater permit value, fewer housing units to start 2025
KAMLOOPS — Commercial and residential construction carried their fair share for Kamloops’ building sector in February 2025.
New numbers released by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show nearly $20.7 million in permit activity for February 2025 — up from the near $16.9 million in February 2024.
Sixteen commercial permits were worth nearly $8.1 million while nine residential permits were worth nearly $8.4 million. Notable permits include three residential alterations worth $6.5 million and two site services worth $2.9 million.
Year-to-date, the Kamloops building sector has seen $37.5 million in permit value in 2025, up from $25.6 million from the same period last year. A $10 million industrial permit was included in the city’s January report.
