Oilers’ Kane to remain on long-term injured reserve for rest of regular season
EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers say forward Evander Kane will remain on long-term injured reserve for the remainder of the NHL regular season.
Friday’s decision means Kane’s US$5.125-million salary will not count against the Oilers’ cap.
The move was expected after the Oilers acquired defenceman Jake Walman from San Jose on Thursday, one day before the NHL trade deadline.
Walman is in the second season of a three-year contract with an average annual salary of $3.4 million.
