Kamloops maker of eco-friendly concrete gets $4.6M funding deal from Ottawa
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops company that turns recycled glass into an ingredient of cement has signed four-year funding deal with the federal government.
The funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) is worth more than $4.6 million for Progressive Planet, located on Sarcee Street in the Mount Paul Industrial Park.
In a news release issued this week, SDTC says the first payment, worth about $1.6 million, was delivered in late January.
“This funding allows us to innovate, reduce emissions, and create value from post-consumer glass, a material that has been historically misallocated and considered waste,” said Progressive Planet CEO Steve Harpur.
