Taxi reported stolen out of Hope found and recovered in Kamloops; suspect arrested
KAMLOOPS — A man was arrested after a taxi reported stolen out of Hope was found in Kamloops Tuesday (March 4) morning.
Kamloops RCMP say officers responded to Battle Street downtown just before 5:00 a.m. where a Toyota Corolla cab that had been reported stolen was in transit.
In a news release issued Tuesday, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers tried to hold a traffic stop of the taxi on Eighth Street, but it continued southbound. She says the taxi was then found abandoned on Dominion Street.
RCMP eventually took one man into custody later Tuesday morning after police dogs were initially unsuccessful searching for a suspect near Dominion Street earlier.
