Montreal Canadiens sign centre Jake Evans to four-year contract extension
MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens signed centre Jake Evans to a four-year contract extension on Tuesday.
The deal, which kicks in next season and runs through 2028-29, will pay Evans an average annual value of US$2.85 million, for a total of $11.4 million.
Evans was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, leading to rumours he might be dealt before Friday’s trade deadline.
In 61 games this season, the 28-year-old from Toronto has 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points, one shy of tying his career high.
