
Sebastian Aho’s OT goal lifts Hurricanes past Flames 2-1
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Sebastian Aho’s fifth overtime goal of the season tied an NHL record and came 3:16 into the extra session as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Calgary Flames 2-1 on Sunday.
Aho’s five OT winners matched Boston’s Brad Marchand (2017-18), Montreal’s Alex Galchenyuk (2016-17), Chicago’s Jonathan Toews (2015-16) and Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos (2011-12) for the most in a season.
Jaccob Slavin also scored for the Hurricanes and Pyotr Kochetkov made 15 saves, all in regulation. Jackson Blake had two assists and Slavin also assisted in the winning goal.
Nazem Kadri’s power-play goal 7:06 into the third period snapped the Flames’ scoreless streak that reached more than 171 minutes and covered parts of four games. Dustin Wolf made 31 saves.
