VANCOUVER — The TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball team were beaten by the UBC Thunderbirds in game one of their best-of-three Canada West quarter-final series.
The fourth-seeded Thunderbirds, who are two-time defending national champions, took the game 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-14) at the War Memorial Gym. It’s UBC’s tenth consecutive win over the fifth-seeded WolfPack in both the regular season and playoffs
Brooklyn Olfert tallied a team-high eight kills for TRU, while Keira Gent added six kills and three digs. Maria Dancheva also recorded both a solo and assisted block, while Libby Meldrum led the WolfPack with eight digs.
“Obviously we didn’t handle the environment very well. We know what to expect in regards to the fact that they’re going to serve the ball tough and we couldn’t deal with that first ball situation on our side,” WolfPack Head Coach Grimm said.
