WolfPack finish fourth at U Sports curling nationals in Lethbridge
LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack finished fourth at the U SPORTS Curling Championships in Lethbridge, after they fell 6-5 to the Dalhousie Tigers in the bronze medal game Friday (Feb. 28) afternoon.
The WolfPack were up 4-1 after four ends before the Tigers scored two in the fifth with the hammer. Dalhousie then stole a point in the sixth and two more in the seventh end for their first lead of the afternoon.
With the hammer in the eighth and final end, the WolfPack foursome of Holly Hafeli, Natalie Hafeli, Hannah O’Neil, and Jorja Kopytko only managed a single. They needed two points to force an extra end at the Lethbridge Curling Club.
Earlier in the day, the WolfPack were beaten 5-4 by the McMaster Marauders in a semi-final. The Marauders finished with the silver medal after they were beaten 5-4 by the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, who won all all nine games they played this week.
