KAMLOOPS — A 45-year-old woman from 100 Mile House was arrested after damaging two police vehicles while trying to evade officers, according to Kamloops RCMP.

Cory Leah Maack is charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited. She was released on bail on Monday and her matters are before the courts.

The charges stem from Sunday (Feb. 23) at around 7:45 a.m. when Kamloops RCMP say officers were called to the 800-block of Desmond Street in Brocklehurst for a well-being check.

In a news release issued Friday (Feb. 28) morning, RCMP say an unresponsive woman was in the front seat of a strangely parked Jeep with the driver’s side door open and a broken rear passenger window. However, police say while officers were en route, the Jeep left the scene.

“As part of the investigation, police discovered the Jeep had been reported as stolen from 100 Mile House earlier this month,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson, states. “Soon after, a Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officer located the vehicle in Heffley Creek and unsuccessfully attempted a traffic stop, during which the Jeep struck a police cruiser.”

RCMP say the driver was eventually stopped following another collision with a police vehicle. Both officers were uninjured while the police vehicles received minor damage.

Anyone who witnessed the reported flight from police or has information or video that may be related is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.
