MERRITT, B.C. — The family of a man who’s been missing for two years will hold a community walk to mark the anniversary of his disappearance.

According to the Southeast District RCMP, the family of Miguel Mack is inviting anyone who’d like to participate in a walk Saturday (March 1) at 4:00 p.m. The walk will start at Coutlee Avenue and Orme Street, go around Merritt to Spirit Square and end at the Civic Centre. Mack’s family held a similar walk last year.

In 2024, the BC RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit unveiled its investigation has shown the disappearance of Mack was due to foul play and he was the victim of a homicide. Mack was reported missing to Merritt RCMP by his family on March 3, 2023, after last being seen a few days prior on Feb. 27, 2023.

Following his disappearance, RCMP say there was a large-scale search of Merritt and area that used police dog services, air services, forensic identification specialists with drones and volunteers. However, Mack’s body has not been located.

“There are people out there with knowledge of Miguel Mack’s disappearance and we are asking those individuals to come forward and contact the police,” Inspector Brent Novakoski, the Officer in Charge of the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit states.

RCMP say investigators continue to follow up on leads and speak with people in Merritt and area regarding Mack’s disappearance.
